Description: Des Horn makes knives that have an intrinsic harmony. This elegant gent's flipper shows Horn's work at its best. Des' craftsmanship means that this unusual locking mechanism works smoothly and comfortably. The gent's front flipper mechanism is designed to be an easy single handed open by rotating with the thumb. The blade is perfectly centered and has smooth action. The ball release allows your fingers to be out of the way when closing the folder.
The blade is formed from stainless damascus forged by Damasteel in Sweden. The high contrast steel is both dramatic and extremely high performing. Des heat treats his blades using a cryogenic quench in liquid nitrogen and double tempers the blade for maximum edge retention. The indent and release balls are silicon nitride (Hrc 93!).
Anodized and hand fileworked liners are formed from Grade V titanium and surround the stainless damascus back spacer. Scales are formed from presentation grade whitelip mother of pearl. The scales are perfectly fit to anodized and textured titanium bolsters. The results are exceptional.
To keep the knife close at hand, a blue ostrich leather pouch is included.
Excellent work throughout!
