Description: This folding knife was made by South African knifemaker Herucus Blomerus. A resident of Pretoria, Herucus (pronounced 'eh-roo-koos') has been a proud member of the South African Knifemakers Guild since 2005.
The drop point blade is made from premium Bohler M390 stainless steel. It is meticulously hand satin finished in the grinds and mirror polished on the flats. M390 takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it due to its high concentration of vanadium and chromium carbides. Its unique powder metallurgical process also promotes a uniform carbide distribution and clean steel properties, making M390 a popular steel used in surgical cutting instruments and in applications requiring a high finish. It offers excellent corrosion resistance due to its high concentration of chromium. The blade is hand hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge.
The blade is easily opened by using the ambidextrous flipper mechanism. It is perfectly centered and has silky-smooth drop shut action due to the ceramic IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed for balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create smooth action with no blade play.
Carbon fiber scales meet perfectly to hand-engraved stainless steel bolsters. The engraver is Belgium-born artist Julien Marchal. Julien studied engraving and gun making at Léon Mignon Liège in Belgium prior to emigrating to South Africa. Titanium liners hand filed into a vine pattern keep the knife light and strong. The knife is easy to keep close at hand using the 3D machined titanium pocket clip with ceramic retention ball, which is mounted for right-side, tip-up carry.
Exceptional fit and finish throughout!
