Description: Trevor Burger is a second-generation knifemaker following in the footsteps of his father, Fred Burger. He has an eye for detail. His knives have exceptionally smooth action and clean, no-nonsense designs. This custom Sahara Signature flipper is an excellent folder with a streamlined design that may make you really appreciate the details.
The blade is formed from M390 stainless steel with a hand rubbed satin finish. M390 is a super-steel created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it due to its high concentration of vanadium and chromium carbides. Its unique powder metallurgical process also promotes a uniform carbide distribution and clean steel properties, making M390 a popular steel used in surgical cutting instruments and in applications requiring a high finish. It offers excellent corrosion resistance due to its high concentration of chromium.
The handle is made from ancient mammoth bark ivory. This bark comes from the exterior of the tusk and combines caramel and rare green tones. These colors develop as minerals in surrounding soil move into the ivory across thousands of years.
The scales meet perfectly with the zirconium bolsters. The bolsters are meticulously engraved and inlaid with 24K gold accents by Belgium-born artist Julien Marchal. Julien studied engraving and gun making at Léon Mignon Liège in Belgium and now lives in South Africa. Zirconium is a transitional metal that is primarily mined in South Africa and Australia. It is highly resistant to corrosion and scuffing. Titanium liners are fileworked and anodized blue. A titanium backbar keeps the knife light and strong. Jimping along the liners provides a solid purchase. The blue anodized 3D machined titanium pocket clip is mounted for right-handed, tip-up carry. The inside of the knife is marked TBC Sahara 008.
Exceptional work throughout!
