Description: Wayne Clay was a knifemaker out of Pellham, Tennessee. He was well known for making lockback and slipjoint folders as well as hunting knives. Wayne studied knifemaking under the famous Bob Loveless while working in his shop in Riverside, California. Unfortunately Wayne passed away in April of 2015. This knife has been in a single private collection since it was made. It has been meticulously cared for and is in new condition. By all appearances, it could have been made yesterday.
The blade is made from ATS-34 stainless steel and features a mirror finish. it can be easily opened using the nail nick and has very smooth action with a firm lockup. The spine is nicely rounded to provide a comfortable grip during use.
The handle is made from ram's horn secured to 7075-T6 aluminum liners using engraved pins. Red fiber spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. Integral 7075-T6 aluminum bolsters are dovetailed nicely to the horn. The bolsters have been lightly engraved for some extra detail. Using aluminum keeps this knife incredibly light for its size. The backlock is easy to disengage and meets up with a black micarta backspacer.
Nice work throughout!
