Description: Dirk Loots is a South African-born knifemaker currently living in Cumming, Georgia. His knifemaking journey began in 2011 after taking a knifemaking course that taught him the possibilities of knives as an art form. By 2016, Dirk had become quite accomplished and entered the high-end “functional-art” market where he immediately garnered the attention and respect of some of the finest knife makers in the world. Today, Dirk Loots' knives are becoming highly sought after as the creativity, precision, and execution of his work is absolutely exemplary. Outstanding material selection and flawless execution are hallmarks of a Dirk Loots Knife. Dirk’s work sets a high bar, and once in hand, you will respect each piece as a true masterpiece.
This dramatic folder shows his work and creativity at its best. It derives its name, Trygon, from the Latin name for a stingray.
The carved blade is made from RWL-34 powdered metallurgical stainless steel. It was meticulously ground and mirror polished. It is easily opened using two ceramic balls inlaid into the ricasso.
The large pivot ring and back spacer are formed from titanium damascus. The right scale is formed from Robert Eggerling stainless damascus set on a titanium liner. Window frames in the damascus reveal black stingray.
Exceptional work throughout!
