Description: Oregon bladesmith Joe Edson specializes in straight razors and kitchen knives. His work, whether a razor or chef’s knife is truly razor sharp!
The kamisori is a Japanese style of razor that has been around before the European straight razor. The classic Japanese construction provides a perfect grip and incredible shave. Seated in your hand, it is perfectly weighted. Add this piece to your morning shave and take pride in your grooming ritual!
Joe began by forging a bar of san mai (three layer) steel. A central W2 carbon steel core is surrounded by antique wrought iron. W2, with its small crystalline size, allows for a tremendously sharp, responsive edge. The spine and handle are nicely rounded for a secure, comfortable grip. The top of the blade and flats are forge finished. It features a symmetrical full hollow grind for a keen, thin, high performing edge.
The handle and spine are carved to resemble bamboo. This traditional Japanese motif is extremely elegant.
The kamisori is accompanied by a carved edge protector made from dyed and stabilized maple burl. We recommend using camellia oil to protect the razor from rust.
Exceptional work throughout!
