Description: This exceptional folding knife was made by South African knifemaker Herucus Blomerus. A resident of Pretoria, Herucus (pronounced 'eh-roo-koos') has been a proud member of the South African Knifemakers Guild since 2005.
The blade is perfectly centered with silky-smooth, drop-shut action -- easily opened with one hand using the ambidextrous flipper toggle. The blade uses the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play. Rucus is creating knives with action that rivals the very best found anywhere.
The hand ground, drop point blade is N690 stainless steel, created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds onto it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge.
Handle scales are lightning strike carbon fiber bolsters. This type of carbon fiber was originally designed for use on fighter jets to redirect electricity. Lightning strike carbon fiber is among the hardest to find knifemaking materials. The bolsters are zirconium. Zirconium is a transitional metal that is primarily mined in South Africa and Australia. It is resistant to corrosion and scratching. Titanium liners are fileworked and anodized. A 3D machined titanium pocket clip is mounted for right-side, tip-up carry. The clip holds a ceramic retention ball at the end.
Excellent work throughout!
