Description: This folding knife was made by South African knifemaker Herucus Blomerus. A resident of Pretoria, Herucus (pronounced 'eh-roo-koos') has been a proud member of the South African Knifemakers Guild since 2005. Herucus' folders combine incredibly smooth action with a high level of fit and finish.
The blade is easily opened using the ambidextrous flipper mechanism. It is perfectly centered and has silky-smooth, drop-shut action due to the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed for balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create smooth action with no blade play.
The hand ground N690 stainless blade features a meticulously hand rubbed satin finish. N690 is created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it. The increased toughness gives it better resistance to chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge.
Handle scales are layered carbon fiber/black G-10. The zirconium bolsters are fluted, textured, and anodized. Zirconium is a transitional metal that is primarily mined in South Africa and Australia. It is resistant to corrosion and scratching. Titanium liners are anodized blue and fileworked. The 3D machined titanium pocket clip with ceramic retention ball is mounted for right-side, tip-up carry.
Excellent work throughout!
