Description: South African knifemaker George Muller is well known for creating exceptional knives and this tactical folder is no exception. It is a nice, high performance, handmade EDC that would be especially perfect for a search and rescue member, an EMT, or anyone that prefers to have a less pronounced tip on their blade.
The sheepsfoot blade is formed from N690 stainless steel created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. By satin finishing the grinds and mirror polishing the flats, George has emphasized his clean grind lines. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge.
The blade can be easily opened using the ambidextrous front flipper using either your index finger or your thumb. It uses the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play. This folder is made with ceramic ball bearings. Generally IKBS bearings are made either from tool steel or from stainless steel. Stainless steel can wear away, resulting in uneven action over time. Tool steel bearings can oxidize making the action rough. Ceramic bearings are the best of all worlds -- extremely hard and wear resistant, they are also inert and will not oxidize.
The scales are made from titanium that has been stonewashed and anodized blue. An open back design keeps the knife lightweight and easy to clean. The blue anodized titanium pocket clip is mounted for right-handed, tip-up carry. A retention ball makes it especially easy to use.
Excellent work throughout!
