Description: Salem Straub is a bladesmith living in Washington State. Salem has a tremendous amount of skill at the forge and a great sense of design. This Keyhole Fighter brings together his skills at their best!
The long, slender blade was forged to shape from Salem's own san mai. A damascus steel core was forged from 15N20 and 1080 carbon steels. Salem then surrounded this with 410 stainless steel. The transition between the damascus core and stainless sides is particularly dramatic. A long swedge travels along the spine and keeps the knife light and fast.
The integral bolster (which is extremely hard to create) reveals the thicker damascus core traveling through the center of the bolster. The bolster is a keyhole design, with the presentation grade ironwood inlaid into the steel. The handle is nicely shaped for a secure, comfortable grip.
Absolutely exceptional!
