Description: Award winning Swedish bladesmith Henry Hildén held nothing back when he created this Mammoth Bowie. Henry is an extremely accomplished Swedish knifemaker, forging damascus that clearly sets him as one of the greatest makers anywhere. His knives are quite traditional in their approach, striving for excellent fit and finish, as well as performance.
A mosaic pattern damascus blade is combined with a firecracker damascus pattern edge. The edge is forged to shape from 1770 and 15N20 carbon steels, for exceptional edge retention. The patterns are extremely clear and show tremendous control and skill.
The handle is formed from mammoth bark surrounded by damascus. The ivory is spectacular, with the inherent figure exterior to the tusk, incorporating chocolate and caramel tones with hints of green. File worked bronze spacers add a nice contrast. Thick damascus spacers formed from firecracker damascus move into a mosaic damascus S-guard. A Sterling silver habaki (blade guard) is engraved and inlaid with a gold sunburst. The handle is finished with a twist pattern damascus butt cap.
This knife includes a hand tooled traditional Swedish rawhide sheath. Spectacular fit and finish throughout!
