Description: Journeyman Smith Bruce Barnett is a Western Australian knifemaker living in the hills of Perth. Bruce is one of the fine Australian makers who is drawing the attention of the knifemaking world to the wealth of knifemaking talent in his country. Bruce's attention to detail and fine design aesthetic is clearly apparent in this elegant and high performing hunting knife.
This hunter features a 6 inch carbon steel blade, hand forged to shape from 1095 carbon steel. A traditional clay zone heat treatment results in a clear hamon traveling across the blade. The undulating line shows the transition between soft, supportive steel at the spine and hard cutting steel at the edge. The blade has been flat ground for an easy to maintain edge.
The handle is made from presentation grade red ironbark wood. Red ironbark Eucalyptus sideroxylon is a very distinctive Australian hardwood that has been prized for over 200 years for its strength and durability. A carbon fiber guard keeps the knife light and well balanced. The intricate weaves of the carbon fiber can be easily viewed from the front of the guard. The handle is secured using a central mosaic pin. Accompanied by a pouch style black leather sheath.
Excellent fit and finish throughout!
