Description: It has been some years since renowned Swedish knifemaker Roger Bergh has had his new work available on the US market. I was extremely pleased when Roger contacted me about this majestic sword.
The 15-1/4 inch blade is 1050 carbon steel. A differential clay zone heat treatment results in a hard spine and cutting edge, with a softer central ridge. This technique, which was borrowed from the Japanese, ensures optimal edge holding with strength and durability. Roger was introduced to this technique by Anders Hogstrom. The blade features a long clip with an armor piercing tip.
Continuing with the Japanese influence, Roger crafted a stainless steel habaki (blade collar). An African blackwood handle is surrounded by a stainless steel guard and pommel. These combine textured and polished sections which really show off Roger's sense of artistry and design to its best.
The sword is accompanied by both a hand tooled, hard formed Swedish leather sheath and a presentation stand combining African blackwood with damascus and mammoth ivory accents.
