Description: Internationally known sculptor Tom Sterling creates works of art from semi-precious hardwoods, horn, antler and fossil ivories and metals as well. Tom Sterling began a unique and award winning career in wood art by carving Japanese netsuke (pronounced net-skeh). Netsuke is a unique form of small sculpture which developed as an art form in Japan over a period of more than three hundred years.
This is a playful, exquisite piece by Tom Sterling! The one-of-a-kind pendant is a stylish contemporary melding of Celtic knot work and his affection for wildlife.
Celtic Gecko Pendant was created by hand engraving and carving naturally shed elk antler. A gecko crawls intertwined within a mass of Celtic knot work. The antler was then antiqued, and pinned with a titanium backing using silver hardware. The pendant measures approximately 1.9 inches in height. At the top it is approximately 1" and at the base it measures approximately .7". Included is a 20 inch leather cord.
Beautiful work, and a novel item.
