Description: South African knifemaker André Thorburn creates an exceptional folder. This compact knife is a perfect daily carry folder -- small enough to not notice it is there until you need it. This folder has been in a knifemaker’s private collection since it was made in the summer of 2013. It is in excellent condition and does not appear to have ever been used or carried. The L6 Flipper is a rare model that has not been made in many years.
The clip point blade is hand ground N690 stainless steel. It is meticulously hand satin finished in the grinds and mirror polished on the flats. N690 is created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. Jimping on the thumb ramp ensures a secure grip. The blade is perfectly centered with silky smooth action -- easily opened with one hand. When combined with the IKBS ball bearing pivot, the action is exceptional! The Ikoma Korth Bearing System (IKBS) pivot system was originally designed to fit balisong knives and uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with virtually no blade play.
Stainless steel bolsters are hand textured and engraved by Marietjie Thorburn with a polished knot pattern, providing a dramatic, secure thumb rest. Blue anodized, hand fileworked titanium liners surround a stainless steel back spacer. The scales are stabilized curly maple, with a pronounced lateral chatoyancy. A stainless steel pocket clip is mounted for right-side, tip-up carry.
Exceptional work throughout.
