Description: What a unique piece! Another conceptual blade by internationally renowned knifemaker and engraver Tom Sterling. Three dimensional carving shows off details of a lone caterpillar eating his way through the top of the blade, preparing for the inevitable (and perhaps anticipated) metamorphosis into a beautiful butterfly.
At 3-1/3 inches overall length, the small knife is formed from a solid, hand-forged piece of 1080 carbon steel. The rat-tail tang curls around to almost meet itself, forming a comfortable, looped handle. Three dots of inlaid, domed copper adorn both sides directly in front of the caterpillar, as if they are some tasty fruits about to be devoured. A 24K gold elongated chevron separates the prey from its quarry. Hand-forging and high performance steel ensures this would be a great performing little skinner -- yet it would equally be a distinctive, whimsical desk display item. Accompanied by a custom black walnut wood presentation box.
