Description: Journeyman Smith Gary Rodewald is an exceptional knifemaker, and this is an elegant example of a hand forged knife that lives up to the ideals of the ABS!
The blade was forged to shape from W2 carbon steel. The undulating heat treatment line is called a hamon and shows the transition between the softer, supportive spine and the keen, long lasting edge. A hand rubbed satin finish lends an heirloom quality.
The handle is comprised of two pieces of expertly matched sheep horn. Mortised tang construction ensures strength and durability. Sheep horn is a natural material preferred by many knifemakers for its natural texture and organic appearance. Nickel silver pins set the handle in place and are carved to match the natural shape of the horn.
Accompanied by a custom fit hand tooled leather sheath. Excellent fit and finish throughout!
