Description: Master Smith Henry Torres had the opportunity to work under renowned bladesmith Bill Burke in the spring of 2006. This allowed him to understand Bill's techniques of heat treating and implementation, which result in a level of edge holding rarely found elsewhere. Henry heat treated this blade using the same techniques -- creating exceptional edge retention.
The blade was forged to shape from 52100 carbon steel -- a steel that many knifemakers and collectors feel have the highest performance found anywhere. It is completed by an heirloom quality hand rubbed satin finish. A differential heat treatment is visible in the satin finished steel. This results in a keen, long lasting edge with a softer, supportive spine.
A 416 stainless steel guard meets perfectly to the Arizona desert ironwood handle. A hand fileworked copper spacer highlights warm, dark tones in the intricate swirling grain pattern of the wood. Black fiber spacers assist the handle in adjusting to temperature and humidity changes.
The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched pouch style leather sheath. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
