Description: Bob Lay's designs are well thought through and show an amazing degree of craftsmanship.
Dyed and stabilized box elder burl is offset by black buffalo horn. Alternating black fiber and stainless spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The stainless steel guard and butt cap create a perfect balance in the hand.
By mirror polishing the flats of the blade and satin finishing the grinds, Bob created a knife with grind lines that are very dramatic. This blade is made from 19C27 stainless steel. The steel, which is in the same family as 12C27, is tremendously wear-resistant and takes on an incredibly keen, long lasting edge. It was originally developed for cutting cardboard in industrial settings. It is one of those rare steels that has exceptional edge holding and can be easily stropped from sort-of dull to scary sharp. The blade has been tempered to 58.5Rc for optimal edge retention. The spine has been lightly fileworked for a secure thumb purchase.
The knife is accompanied by a certificate from the maker, cordura storage pouch and a tooled leather sheath. Excellent fit and finish throughout!
