Description: It is rare to find one of Bob Lay's miniature hunters. Despite the 3 inch blade length, this little knife packs a wallop. It is a perfect size for detail skinning of even large game.
The handle is formed from a solid piece of jet black buffalo horn and is nicely offset by a very rare muskox horn spacer. The muskox (Ovibos moschatus) is an Arctic mammal of the family Bovidae. Muskoxen primarily live in Arctic North America and Greenland, with small populations in Sweden, Siberia and Norway. The world population is estimated at between 80,000 and 125,000. Muskox is among the rarest handle materials used by knifemakers today.
The aluminum guard and butt cap create a perfect balance in the hand. By mirror polishing the flats of the blade and satin finishing the grinds, Bob creates a knife with grind lines that are very dramatic. The blade is tempered to 57 Rc for optimal edge retention. Accompanied by certificate from the maker and a cordura storage pouch.
