Description: Andre van Heerden has once again designed and created a stunning folding knife! This one-of-a-kind folder is sure to feel at home in any collection, but could also be a perfect daily carry knife.
The Panzer 36 stainless blade is meticulously hand satin finished in the grinds and mirror polished on the flats. Panzer 36 is a martensitic stainless steel with high hardness, high wear resistance and good corrosion resistance. It is cross rolled in production to cancel out residual stresses from the manufacturing process. It has only recently begun being used by knifemakers and has gained significant acclaim by South African makers, where it has quickly found popularity. Mastersmith Kevin Harvey has been involved in the initial testing of Panzer 36 and describes it as having ' excellent edge holding and toughness.' The blade has been hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. By hand satin finishing the grinds and mirror polishing the flats, Andre accentuates the unique, crisp grind lines. The thumb ramp has been fileworked for a secure thumb purchase.
The blade is a hollow ground drop point with a subtle recurve. The steel has been mirror polished on the flats and satin finished on the grinds - this accentuates Andre's precise grind lines. The nimble and elegant blade is well centered and has a beautifully smooth action, and is completed with a right-handed thumb stud.
The bolsters are a fascinating mosaic with many tiny pictures forged into the steel - within the metal it is easy to spot spiders, stars, skulls and lightning bolts! The bolsters have been meticulously dovetailed to desert ironwood scales for a perfect fit. The scales fall at the darker end of the ironwood spectrum, in tones of chocolate, umber and burnt sienna. Scales and bolsters rest on bronze toned anodized titanium liners. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
