Description: Michael Almqvist has been a knifemaker for nearly 30 years, having crafted his first knife at 15. The many years of artistry clearly show in both the inspiration and execution of this finely wrought knife.
Michael began this knife with a blade made by Pär Björkman. Pär Björkman is a renowned Swedish bladesmith that has worked closely with Damasteel -- so closely, in fact, that the pattern used on this blade (Björkman Tvist) is named after him. The powdered metallurgical steel combines RWL-34 and PMC-27 stainless steels and will have excellent edge holding.
The handle is as unique as it is dramatic. Chips and slices of ancient mammoth ivory are suspended in resin. This has then been carved into a dramatic and comfortable grip that you won't want to put down. A front 'bolster' is formed from stabilized masur birch. Black fiber spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The knife snaps securely into the traditional Swedish rawhide leather sheath. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
