Description: South African knifemaker George Muller creates an exceptional knife! The hollow ground blade is formed from Chris Marks's carbon steel mosaic damascus, featuring a dramatic spiderweb image in the center. The bold web is surrounded by a complex pictorial mosaic. The spine has been hand fileworked in a vine pattern, providing a secure thumb purchase. Fileworked titanium liners are anodized to complement the exceptional mammoth ivory scales. A fileworked thumb stud allows for quick opening and the action is silky smooth.
Ancient mammoth ivory scales incorporate an amazing array of green and brown tones, and are polished to a high luster. Ivory of this quality is extremely rare. Gold-toned screws attach the scales securely to the liners.
Bolsters are formed from meteorite and dovetailed to the ivory for a perfect fit. The crystalline patterns revealed on the bolsters are known as "Widmanstatten patterns", which can only form in the vacuum of space. The large metallic crystals require millions of years of cooling to form from a molten planetary core fragment. It has been estimated that it took about 1000 years for these molten pieces of planetary core to cool by just 1 degree Celsius!
The knife is accompanied by a cowhide belt sheath. Excellent fit and finish of a beautifully designed and implemented piece!
