Description: This exceptional hunter was made by TM Dowell. It has been in a private collection and is in mint condition. By all appearances, it could have been made yesterday. The sheath, which has never been worn shows minimal wear from bumping against other sheaths in the collection.
Dowell is a masters of the integral knife -- where the blade, tang and guard are all formed from one solid piece of steel. This style, with both integral front and rear bolster shows tremendous skill. The D2 blade and tang both have an elegant distal taper, resulting in an optimal balance. At the base, the tang spreads into a protective rear bolster. The blade features the deep hollow grind for which Dowell is famous -- this ensures his knives are excellent cutters and slicers, performing a cut above the rest while retaining excellent overall strength by virtue of the sturdy spine. The burgundy micarta handle is nicely fit to the distal tapered tang and is secured using nickel silver rivets for durability and strength. Dowell's mark is on the left, central rivet. Exceptional fit and finish throughout!
