Description: Gary Rodewald's knives are exceptional with an attention to detail rarely found from other makers. As such, it is no surprise that Gary has several times won "Best Forged Knife" at the Montana Knifemakers Association Show. This hunter is named after the Bitterroot National Forest - the largest expanse of continuous pristine wilderness in the lower 48 states.
The drop point blade was forged to shape from 1095 carbon steel. Gary used a Japanese technique for heat treating the blade. Clay was coated on the spine prior to quenching the blade. This resulted in a soft, supportive spine with a keen, long lasting edge. Hand satin finished. Gary engraved both the spine and choil. The nickel silver guard and rivets nicely offset the dark tones in the exhibition grade desert ironwood handle. The handle has been nicely sculpted to provide a comfortable, secure hand hold. Exceptional fit and finish throughout!
