Description: Mastersmith Shane Taylor forges a spectacular knife, and this folder is no exception. The batwing folder is the knife that has most defined Mastersmith Shane Taylor's knifemaking career. He developed this style relatively early in his knifemaking and it certainly put him on the map.
Shane began by forging out the Damascus billet for the blade and bolsters. A complex mosaic pattern is formed from carbon steels. Heat bluing reveals exceptional contrast and a very dramatic pattern that gets all the more fascinating with up-close inspection.
The mammoth ivory scales are burnt cream and blue/green toned and have been dovetailed to the mosaic damascus bolsters for a perfect fit. The screws are fileworked and heat-blued to a complimentary hue. The thumbstud is a deep red ruby. 15N20 liners have been heat blued and are meticulously textured. The 1084 carbon steel backbar has been engraved both inside and out. As with Shane's other batwings, the handle fits securely into the hand and allows several grips. Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
