Description: Jay Hendrickson's work is something that always catches my attention -- and his bowies are the masterpieces of his knives. His sense of design, fit and finish can be found nowhere else. The appleseed grind, a hallmark of his work, creates an edge that is durable, while being super-sharp.
This large Bowie was forged from 5160 and features a 10 1/2" differentially heat treated blade. The differential heat treatment assures a keen, long lasting edge with a soft, supporting spine.
The curly maple handle incorporates a leaves and vines motif set with fine silver and ivory inlay. Both sides of the handle are meticulously inlaid. The front of the handle is finished off with carved scallops inlaid with fine silver wire. The handle, with it's "gun-grip" downturn is extremely comfortable when held. The knife is accompanied by a basswood lined shark skin wrapped sheath with a nickel silver throat and a single seam. Exceptional work throughout!
