Description: This short sword is an elegant weapon, perfectly balanced. Ron’s main focus for the last few years has been on making integral knives. This technique shows tremendous control -- the steel parts, from blade to guard, to handle are all made from one solid piece of steel. Like a stone sculpture, the parts that don't belong were meticulously removed. The result is an exceptional knife.
The long, slender blade was flat ground, leaving behind the flat central line. This was a perfect place for Jere Davidson's meticulous engraving: chevron shaped leaves travel up the blade toward the point. The integral design results in exceptional heft and a great feel in the hand. The blade has been meticulously hand satin finished.
The integral handle has been sculpted and meticulously inlaid with pre-ban ivory. By removing the steel in four sections, Ron has created a 'double tang' -- again, all the better for Jere's engraving. The precision of the inlay is spectacular and at a level I have rarely, if ever seen. Exceptional fit and finish throughout on a very captivating, elegant sword.
