Description: Butch Deveraux worked under the watchful eye of Mastersmith Ed Fowler and certainly the influence is immediately apparent. He is a graduate of Ed's School of High Performing Knives and shows tremendous skill both in implementation and style. This knife has been kept in a private collection since it was made. By all appearances, Butch could have made this knife yesterday!
Like knives by Mastersmiths Bill Burke and Ed Fowler, each knife by Deveraux is pre-tested for edge flex and cutting ability before assembly. The blade is forged from 5160 carbon steel. The heat treatment follows the formulas developed by Ed Fowler and Bill Burke, and creates some of the sharpest and most long lasting edges found anywhere.
The handle is made from sheep horn. When wet, sheep horn does not become slippery, and it is amazingly durable. The front spacer is created by taking two sheep horn end cuts and aligning them outward, producing a very pleasing effect. The handle is very comfortable in the hand.
The knife is accompanied by a custom pouch style sheath made from 14 oz waxed harness leather.
Excellent fit and finish throughout.
