Description: This exceptional Bowie was made by Mastersmith Wade Colter in the spring of 2004 and has been in his private collection since then. It is a meticulously performed reproduction of a Bowie knife pictured on pg 119 of the Williamson Auction Catalog. This Bowie won "Best Bowie" at the 2004 Oregon Knife Collector's Associate Show and is featured in Knives 2005.
The elegant blade was forged to shape from 1084 carbon steel. Double fullers move into a swedge. Fine silver forms the S-guard and fittings throughout. The stick tang moves through the handle, attaching to the butt of the handle. Showing a tremendous amount of skill and precision fitting, the handle can be removed from the knife using the screw at the butt. Fine silver inlays adorn the African blackwood handle. The single seam leather hard leather sheath is decorated with a fine silver throat and tip.
Exceptional work throughout!
