Blade: High quality peach obsidian pressure flaked by Joe Higgins
Bolster: Desert ironwood
Handle: Sculpted and pyrographed English boxwood
Description: English boxwood and desert ironwood has been carved and pyrographed to precise detail, making this an exceptional show piece. The blade is pressure flaked from flawless "peach" obsidian from Northern California. Accompanied by American black walnut and Pacific yew display box for a dramatic presentation.
A trail of ants is pyrographed onto each side of the handle, descending into the sculpted labyrinth of tunnels going deep into the wooden handle. The remainder is sculpted and pyrographed to resemble tree bark that these carpenter ants have tunneled through.
The team of Tom Sterling and JP Higgins is a formidable force. Joe Higgins, who has been flint knapping knives for over 10 years, created the blade of this masterpiece with precision. This skill is matched in the detailed handle created by Tom Sterling, who has brought his attention to detail learned as an internationally known netsuke artist to this piece.
