Description: An exceptional knife with excellent fit and finish throughout, this collaborative knife was created by Mike and Audra Draper. It is truly a masterpiece that shows off both maker's work at their best. On the inside of the backbar, the makers have engraved "FF#6Mike & Audra Draper", designating this as their sixth folder of this design. The inside of the titanium liners have been mirror polished for a dramatic reflective effect.
The blade is forged from 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels into a random Damascus pattern. The differential heat treatment assures that the edge is extremely hard, whereas the spine is strong, soft, and supportive. The bolsters, with their swooping grind, appear to be in influenced by the Draper's friendship with knifemaker Ken Onion. The sheephorn scales and blade shape hearken back to Audra's apprenticeship under Mastersmith Ed Fowler.
The scales are formed from polished black sheep horn, which is exceptionally hard to come by. The deep black surface has some blond lines moving through that bring a very captivating appearance. The left side is lightly polished whereas the right side swells nicely to fit the palm of a right-handed user. An exceptional knife!
