Description: Folks who know me well, already know that I am a tremendous fan of Mastersmith Jay Hendrickson's knives. His work has a unique sense of style (perhaps a gentlemanly feel?) that is tremendously rare to find, even from the best makers. When Jay designed a Scagel style Hunter, it was bound to be good. William Scagel was one of the best known makers of the early 20th century and created a unique style that it as American and the Bowie
The upswept Damascus blade is forged to shape and has an appleseed grind resulting in a very strong edge. It is precision fit to the nickel silver guard. Red fiber spacers allow the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The handle is formed from a single piece of curly maple and has been inlaid with fine silver scrolls. The butt is formed from an exceptional stag crown. As you would expect, excellent fit and finish throughout.
