Description: The traditional Japanese clay temper line called a hamon shows the differential heat treat used to create this knife. This shows that the edge is especially hard and the spine is softer, making a knife that will be sturdy and keep its edge especially well. This knife has been flat ground on one side, and shinogi-ji on the other. This grind is extremely difficult since both sides must meet in a symmetrical tip and a perfectly straight edge. Both the grind and the hamon and beautifully performed. The sterling silver handle pin has been textured to match the bolster. As good as it gets!
