Description: An re-creation of the inspirational work of William Scagel, this large hunting knife features a breathtaking great horned owl scrimshawed in black on the creamy white center cut ivory inlaid in the handle butt by noted artist Kristin Barndt.
Stainless steel and red and black fiber spacers flank stabilized blue oak burl, creating a strong visual comparison to the dramatic sambar stag crown. The nickel silver guard extends only enough to form a comfortable grip while creating a pleasing warm introduction when compared with the satin finished stainless steel spacers.
The Plains Indian style elk hide sheath features a turtle's belly and is adorned with a variety of trade beads and copper and brass tubes. The sheath forms a protective home from which the great horned owl in the handle's butt can gaze out on the world. The scrimshaw is exceptionally performed, with a lifelike appearance and tremendous detail.
A wonderful collaboration of modern knifemaking, top quality scrimshaw and great attention to detail embodied in the unique sheath, this collector's prize is totally uncompromising in every respect.
