Description: Mardi Meshejian's creative masterpieces are among the most dramatic and inspiring work today. He is a true innovator, both in style and technique.
The slender wharncliffe blade of this art knife is created using a san mai (literally meaning three layers) technique, whereby 1095 carbon steel is sandwiched between Titanium Damascus. CP3 and 6al-4v have been forged into a 40 Damascene layers. The result is phenomenal. The titanium has been electrically anodized to brilliant gold and purple tones. The cutting edge is pure 1095, which will have excellent edge retention.
The guard is heat blued titanium and is a brilliant blue/purple. The habaki (blade collar) is formed from shakudo -- a Japanese traditional material created by coming copper and gold. The handle is formed from a single piece of fossil walrus ivory.
Exceptional work throughout.
