Description: Bladesmith Mardi Meshejian creates some of the most captivating knives anywhere. His sense of style is only matched by his ability to combine materials into a masterpiece.
The 100 layer Damascus blade has a thick spine that was heavily sculpted. Going well beyond the point of simple filework, the sculpting has an organic quality. The carving melds nicely into the sculpted recess.
The Damascus steel guard is an amazing piece, and if it were not for the artifact handle material, the guard would certainly be the first thing to catch one's attention. Forged from drywall screws, the resulting Damascus is a highly detailed pattern with hints of the screw's shapes prior to being turned into Damascus. This is surrounded by antiqued copper spacers.
The handle is created from a fossil walrus ivory artifact. In 1800s Alaska, many fossil walrus ivory pieces were used as tools, ranging from fishing weights to sled runners, to fire starters. This handle, with its warm caramel tones was used as a sled runner. Mardi has retained the shape as much as possible while providing a secure and comfortable hand hold. A titanium pin secures the handle.
Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
