Description: This sole authorship Sami styled puukko is the exceptional work of Swedish bladesmith Henry Hildén. Henry has a fit and finish that is hard to beat and a sense of design that utilizes the styles of his homeland, Sweden, while having a style unique to him.
The blade was forged by Henry from Swedish carbon steels and will have excellent edge holding. He chose to grind the blade after etching so as to have very dramatic grind lines.
The handle is formed from oiled, stained and stabilized Swedish masur birch, combined with fossil walrus ivory. Sterling silver spacers are used throughout. The combination of dark tones and swirling grain structure in the masur birch with bright tones in the fossil ivory is very dramatic.
The Sami styled half horn sheath has a rigid leather upper that has been tooled. The lower section is formed from masur birch and elk leg bone with fossil ivory accents. There is decorative pin work in the elk bone, a hallmark of Henry's work.
