Description: Coming back from the Blade show with journeyman smith test knives is one of my great highlights of the year. Five knives are made by each applicant that are the height of their work. These knives were judged by ABS Mastersmiths on fit and finish, as well as general artistry. The standards are exacting. This hunter was one of the five knives that John selected as the best of his work for judging by the masters.
The blade has a differential heat treatment and a hand rubbed satin finish. The distinctive heat treatment line assures blade that will keep its edge and a spine to support it. The grind lines are perfectly centered and show very sharp, well executed transitions. The joins are perfect between blade, guard, and handle. The curly koa wood handle has been gently rounded for a great feel in the hand. Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
