Description: This Kogatana by Glenn Waters and Kunimitsu is a masterpiece. The Jihada (blade patterning) is ko itame (wood grain pattern) with Chikei (an irregular web patterning). Chikei is very rare and shows tremendous control. The blade was forged by Kunimitsu in 2002. Glenn Waters created the saya (scabbard), 22k solid gold Habaki (blade collar) and all fittings including the Horimono (engraving).
The imagery (horimono) on the front of the blade shows an Autumn theme of 2 rabbits sitting by a stream with rushes and the moon overhead (Juu Go Ya). The back shows a wild bird in a bamboo flanked stream with the sun overhead. Horimono inlays are 24k gold, 20k green gold and 20k pink gold.
The fittings are 950 silver. Inlays are 24k gold. The saya is rare snakewood.
Excellent fit and finish throughout with tremendous detail.
