Description: Glenn waters brings together a fusion of styles brought from his native land of Australia, and his found home Japan.
The Devin Thomas stainless Damascus blade has a very fine, detailed pattern. Glenn has engraved this with floral and butterfly patterns on the flats and spine. This is augmented with 24k inlaid vines. Glenn continues the floral vine pattern along the backbar, which is also inlaid with blacklip mother of pearl. The interior is mirror polished and fileworked. The thumbstud is hand turned from 18k gold and engraved. Titanium liners have been fully fileworked and anodized.
The frame is created from Shibuichi gin, an alloy of silver and copper traditionally used on Japanese sword furniture. It is stronger than silver or copper on there own and has a beautiful color that gets better with age. The double bolsters have been inlaid in floral and butterfly patterns in 24k and 18k gold as well as silver and Shyaku Dou, an alloy of gold (5%) and copper also used on Japanese sword furniture. Like Shibuichi Gin it is strong and ages beautifully. It doesn't turn green like copper. It can be colored from a copper color through to a pitch black.
Fossil mammoth ivory scales are inlaid with 24k gold twisted wire for a very dramatic effect. The work throughout is very dramatic and well executed. The blade is perfectly centered and has excellent action. Comes with certificate from the maker.
