Description: Francois chooses his materials for durability. K110, similar to D2 steel is designed for use in tool and die applications. It has excellent edge holding abilities and the alloy carbide particles imparts excellent abrasion resistance qualities. It is often described as "semi-stainless" since it has the edge retention of carbon steel, but resists corrosion better than traditional carbon steels but not as well as modern stainless varieties. Paaka wood has long been popular because of its moisture resistance. The tang and blade are both distally tapered and the balance point rests between the guard and first brass pin. The result is a handsome knife that will wear well in field use.
