Blade: Clay tempered 1050 carbon steel blade with an exceptional hamon (heat treat line) resulting from the Japanese style tempering
Bolster: Brushed brass
Handle: Dyed, stabilized oak
Description: The blade of this kwaiken is clay tempered using a traditional Japanese technique that hardens the edge while maintaining resilience in the spine. The result is a blade that has spectacular edge retention and durability. It also produces a dramatic hamon (heat treat line), and this is one of the most interesting I've seen on one of Anders' blades. The guard is brushed brass with a bold finish that looks great against the handle. Anders chose dyed, stabilized oak for the handle. The green color compliments both the brass and the ash wood presentation box.
