Description: This Bird & Trout Knife was made by Montana knifemaker Gerome Weinand. Born and raised in North Dakota, Gerome moved to Montana in 1955 after coming home from the Korean War. He lived in Great Falls until his return to civilian life in 1957, when he settled in Missoula. Gerome has been making knives since 1982. Following a career in the construction industry, Gerome taught himself the skills to build quality custom knives. He is a founding member of the Montana Knifemakers Association and he has been a great source of information for up and coming knifemakers. This knife has been in a private collection. It has been meticulously cared for and is in new condition. By all appearances, Weinand could have made it yesterday.
The blade is hand ground dendritic D2. A cryogenic heat treatment ensures a keen, long lasting edge.
Stag handle scales are set on a full tang for strength and durability. Stag, with its natural texture, makes a perfect handle material. The guard and pins are textured brass. A leather lanyard makes it easy to remove the knife quickly from its sheath.
This knife is accompanied by a hand stitched pouch style leather custom sheath.
