Description: Spyderco was founded in 1976 by Sal and Gail Glesser. In 1978, they settled in Golden, Colorado, and initially, the company focused on selling their first product: the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker™ which was primarily sold at fairs and trade shows around the country. Since then, Spyderco has steadily grown to become one of the leaders in the cutlery industry. In addition to a worldwide distribution network and manufacturing resources in the U.S., Japan, Taiwan, Italy, and China, their innovations have earned them an impressive portfolio of patents, trademarks, and industry awards.
The Dragonfly 2 (C28BGBKP2) is a limited sprint run of the well-loved and easily carried Dragonfly. Upgraded blade steel and classy burgundy FRN (fiberglass reinforced nylon) take a classic to new heights. Well thought out ergonomics make this knife very comfortable in hand and capable in almost any cutting task. Jimping on the spine and choil give a secure, full hand grip. Utilizing a strong back lock and reversible wire pocket clip means this knife is also totally ambidextrous. A small hole at the back of the knife makes attaching a lanyard easy.
The blade is U.S. based Carpenter Technology Micro-Melt PD#1 with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating. Micro-Melt PD#1 is a tool steel that is formulated to have incredible wear resistance and toughness. It is most similar to CPM-CruWear. The CarTech Micro-Melt powder metal process ensures extremely fine grain structure and homogeneous chemical distribution. Because this is a carbon steel, the blade needs to be wiped down with a high-quality oil to prevent rust and oxidation (we recommend camellia oil). The full flat grind gives the blade a remarkably sharp edge, perfect for slicing tasks.
Made in Japan.
