Description: Mastersmith Kevin Harvey is well known for his tremendous attention to detail -- only matched by his skill at design. This large clip point bowie is a beautiful example of his clean and consistent work. Kevin lives in South Africa with his wife Mastersmith Heather Harvey and together they teach bladesmithing courses, with students travelling from all over the world to learn their techniques. Regretfully, few of Harvey's knives make it to the US these days.
The antiqued blade is hand forged 1050 carbon steel recovered from a train rail (certified). A differential heat treatment results in a soft, supportive spine, with a keen, long lasting edge. Kevin's maker mark is on the left ricasso.
The presentation grade Turkish walnut (Juglans regina) handle is surrounded by damascus fittings. Thin nickel silver spacers separate the fittings.
To keep the knife close at hand, a brown leather custom sheath, also made by Kevin, is included.
Exceptional work throughout!
