Description: This Field Ant Skinner is an exceptional daily companion. The slim-profiled knife will be easy to keep close by, yet will have plenty of cutting power.
The blade is hand ground, exceptionally rare Vanax Super Clean stainless steel made by Uddeholm in Austria. With Vanax, nitrogen replaces carbon as the martensite initiator in the hardening process. It is made from Rapid Solidification Powder (RSP) to reduce the sizes and quantities of unfavorable solidification structures. Nitrogen forms extremely small and hard vanadium nitrides, enabling a great combination of wear resistance, edge retention, and toughness, while maintaining extreme corrosion resistance. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. Van der Merwe's mark is set on the left side. An ant is inlaid in 24K gold (van der Merwe calls his company Ant Knives).br> Hand contoured stabilized birdseye maple handle scales are set on the distal tapered full tang, ensuring a perfect balance. A lanyard can easily be added to the back of the handle.
This knife is accompanied by a hand stitched leather custom sheath.
Exceptional work throughout!
