Description: Spyderco was founded in 1976 by Sal and Gail Glesser. In 1978, they settled in Golden, Colorado, and initially, the company focused on selling their first product: the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker™ which was primarily sold at fairs and trade shows around the country. Since then, Spyderco has steadily grown to become one of the leaders in the cutlery industry. In addition to a worldwide distribution network and manufacturing resources in the U.S., Japan, Taiwan, Italy, and China, their innovations have earned them an impressive portfolio of patents, trademarks, and industry awards.
The Spyderco Delica (C11BGBKP) is one of Spyderco's most iconic and well loved knives. This sprint run takes the Delica to the next level, dressing the handle in unique burgundy FRN and super-charging the blade with Carpenter Micro-Melt PD#1. This Delica allows for the pocket clip to be mounted for left or right-side carry, and in tip-up or down orientation. The round hole opening system and backlock make the knife completely ambidextrous. Burgandy FRN (fiberglass reinforced nylon) handle scales keep the knife lightweight and the screws and other hardware are coated to match the blade.
The blade is U.S. based Carpenter Technology Micro-Melt PD#1 with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating. Micro-Melt PD#1 is a tool steel that is formulated to have incredible wear resistance and toughness. It is most similar to CPM-CruWear. The CarTech Micro-Melt powder metal process ensures extremely fine grain structure and homogeneous chemical distribution. Because this is a carbon steel, the blade needs to be wiped down with a high-quality oil to prevent rust and oxidation (we recommend camellia oil). The full flat grind gives the blade a remarkably sharp edge, perfect for slicing tasks.
Made in Japan.
