Description: Seattle native Jeff Driscoll's knives are unique, dramatic creations. A plumber by day and knifemaker by night, Jeff loves using handmade knives as his art canvas. Koa Kat is designed to be a decorative desk knife -- most would never even know a blade was hidden inside!
The blade is linear damascus forged from 20C and 15N20 carbon steels by Danish bladesmith Poul Strande ensuring excellent edge holding. Poul began forging damascus knife blades in the summer of 1988. Since 1995, he has exclusively forged knife blades and carried out repair work for museums and churches. The damascus pattern is deeply etched for high contrast. The blade features a classic Scandi grind. Poul's touchmark is on the right side of the blade.
The handle and sheath are carved into a highly detailed jungle cat from koa wood (acacia koa). This durable wood is only found on the Hawaiian islands and is one of the most desired woods used in knifemaking. The sheath is permanently mounted to the rosewood base. The back half of the cat can be removed, exposing the forged knife blade. Two .80 ct peridot are inlaid as green eyes. The cat's tongue and teeth are fine silver.
Excellent work throughout!
