Description: Jarrrett Cieslak is an exceptional young bladesmith that is clearly a maker to watch. We anticipate that he will become 'one of the greats'.
At 15 years old, back in 2013, Jarrett began making knives after encountering blacksmithing videos on YouTube. He was immediately hooked. Between 2014 and 2016, he received a machining certificate from Harford Community College and was awarded welding certifications from Earlbeck Welding. This continuing education (along with hours and hours of hammering) gave him an understanding of how he could merge these experiences with his blacksmithing. In 2018, he attended an ABANA conference in Richmond, VA, where he was encouraged to join the American Bladesmith Society. Jarrett takes great pride in his craft, from forging the steel, to fit and finish, to personally hand stitching every sheath. His artistry stems from the love of transforming raw materials into a high performance knife that is sure to be passed down through generations.
The clip point blade is hand forged damascus, combining 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels for a keen, long lasting edge. The blade is flat ground and razor sharp. Cieslak's makers mark (a stylized beard) is set on the left ricasso. The blade is a perfect length for daily carry and will get most any task done with ease.
The contoured handle is stabilized and dyed maple burl. It locks your fingers securely between the beak and guard. The wood handle and blade are perfectly fit to the stainless steel guard. The handle is broad, providing a comfortable grip through hours of work.
The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched leather custom sheath.
Excellent work throughout.
